I suppose someone might answer that question with "Google" but would immediately expose themselves to suspicion of technological rubitude. Lots of fun, and apparently hard to beat the homophones selected here the constructor.

I got a clean grid and was relieved to be done. The wordplay is superficially simple and yet I haven't seen this theme before and I can't come up with another entry that would work at all, even after looking at a list of homophones. Glad to be back with the syndies, but I think I need a nap. And she explained a little about Cockney rhyming slang to me. And now -- ready for the stupidity?

Any help? I'd swear we had Dock Ellis in a fairly recent puzzle. National Restaurant Association is not much better than the one with guns. TE was eluding me.

How about simple variety? Thank you! Definition of faro a card game in which players bet against the dealer on the cards he will draw from a dealing box. As for me, I was bored within the first five minutes. These nicknames are ornate in their dumbness, which makes them great. I also missed the trio of DOs. Nice construction, dense, decent fill, but in the "word ladder" category of interesting things about words but not that interesting to me as a crossword puzzle.

Et tujberg ? I blew through this so fast I did not see the theme either. Turned into a 67 to 63 come-from-behind win for LALA land. Crosswogd I see him now, I see him with a wet face full of red delicious. A dazzling, inexplicable, ignominious DNF. The puzzle and Rex's write-up make for a double dose of pleasure.
